Location: Brown Truck Brewery / 1234 N Main Street, High Point, NC 27262

Reports to: General Manager

Position Type: Full-time; Base Salary + Bartending Shifts

Position Summary:

Brown Truck Brewery’s Lead Bartender / Assistant Manager is our go-to person for day-to-day taproom activities. This is a hybrid position that includes both administrative/supervisor work and bartending duties. The Lead Bartender will work on average of four full bartending shifts per week and spend roughly eight hours on administrative duties. The ideal candidate for this position has not only a passion for craft beer and hospitality, but is also experienced in supervising a staff of part-time bartenders.

 

The Lead Bartender / Assistant Manager will lead by example through elevated service behind the bar and will assist in cultivating a professional work environment for our staff and engaging experience for our guests. 

 

Leadership Functions:

  • Lead opening & closing of the taproom (including cash drawer) each engaged shift

  • Take weekly cash deposits/exchanges to the bank

  • Purchase regular taproom supplies

  • Schedule bar staff and respond to schedule alterations/call-outs, filling in as needed

  • Work with General Manager for staff education and special event execution

  • Assist with the booking of food trucks and live music

  • Assist with bar staff payroll 

  • Perform routine maintenance and care of taproom & patio

  • Supervise, train, and monitor bar staff

  • Lead by example of providing excellent customer service

  • Be comfortable with being on camera and a “face” for Brown Truck Brewery

  • Attend off-site events as needed (responsibilities include set-up and engaging with consumers)

  • Maintain a professional image and demeanor at all times. Be charismatic and positive with consumer engagement.

  • Respond and troubleshoot issues/changes that may arise

 

Bartenders are a crucial component of Brown Truck Brewery. Bartenders are our most public-facing staff and serve as the contact point for our customers with our business. Although the quality of our product is important, the interaction with our bartenders is often the determining factor in the enjoyment of our customers. Bartenders at Brown Truck are responsible for more than just pouring beer, but in creating an atmosphere that promotes our core values.

Responsibilities of Bartenders include, but are not limited to:

  • Taking orders, entering orders into our point of sale system, and ringing up customers

  • Opening and closing duties

  • Pouring beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages for guests

  • Interacting with guests and giving recommendations

  • Assisting in the maintenance of taproom & patio cleanliness

  • Complying with all NC ABC rules and regulations regarding the sales of alcoholic beverages

  • Monitor customer behavior and ensure responsible alcohol consumption

  • Collecting, cleaning, and restocking of glassware

  • Tapping kegs and removing empty kegs as needed

  • Staying up to date on Brown Truck’s current offerings

  • Other duties related to bartender functions as assigned

 

Schedule:

  • ~40 hours a week total

  • Average of four (8 hr) bartending shifts a week

  • Asynchronous/flexible schedule for 8 hrs of administrative duties

  • Nights and weekends required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Management experience in a brewery/bar/restaurant setting

  • Bartending expertise

  • Craft beer knowledge with Certified Beer Server qualification recommended

  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized

  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills

  • 21+

  • Must be able to represent our brand well, whether that’s on our social media or in person

  • Knowledge of Brown Truck’s products and brand identity

 

Compensation:

  • Base salary to account for ~8hrs of admin work

  • Bartender wage + tips for approx. four shifts per week
